"Young people are much less likely to die from COVID, but if you do not get vaccinated, you could get COVID sooner or later".

Additionally, the White House is partnering with early childhood centers such as KinderCare, Learning Care Group, Bright Horizons and more than 500 YMCAs to provide free childcare coverage for Americans looking for shots or needing assistance while recovering from side effects.

The Biden administration views June as "a critical month in our path to normal", Courtney Rowe, the director of strategic communications and engagement for the White House COVID-19 response team, told the AP. America's mayors are joining the effort by launching a competition to see which city can grow its vaccination rate the most by July Fourth.

Despite widespread availability, vaccinations have varied wildly across U.S. states with a wide swathe of the South, including Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia and Tennessee having vaccination rates of in the mid-30th percentile.

Right now, 52% of American adults are fully vaccinated, the president said, and he encouraged young people to get their shots.

"N$3 ow that we are at this pivotal moment where people are excited to be together again, it only makes sense that we would unite our full portfolio and take this action to encourage people to get vaccinated", said Anheuser-Busch chief marketing officer Marcel Marcondes in a news release.

The U.S. still needs to vaccinate roughly 20 million adults in the next month to reach Biden's goal by July Fourth. The offer period begins when the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) determines 70% of adults have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine shot, and it extends until midnight on the seventh day following that date or until all rewards have been given, "whichever comes first", per the beer maker. Then, the first 200,000 submissions will get a $5 reward.

As part of the effort to drive Americans to get shots, the White House is borrowing some tools from political campaigns, including phone banks, door-knocking and texting.

To make sure the surplus doesn't go unused, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Tuesday the US will announce its plan to distribute 80 million vaccines overseas in the next two weeks.

Thanks to the vaccinations, the rate of cases and deaths in the US are at their lowest since the beginning of the pandemic last March, averaging under 16,000 new cases and under 400 deaths per day.

Some states have taken matters into their own hands and proven incentives can work.

As of last month, all American adults are eligible for vaccines, and three have been authorized by the Food and Drug Administration for use. OH health officials reported a spike in people getting their vaccines after Governor Mike DeWine announced the state would award five vaccinated residents $1 million each to boost vaccination rates. In some states, fewer than 30 percent have received their first dose of a vaccine.
