After CDC news, Trader Joe's, Walmart drop mask rules

Then came Walmart, the country's No. 1 retailer, with more than 4,700 stores in the U.S. Walmart said in a memo to employees that as of Friday vaccinated customers can shop without masks. According to Business Insider, Walmart, Target, Dollar General and Starbucks say shoppers and workers in their stores will still need to wear masks. "That will remain their choice".

The new rules are based on Thursday's new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which said fully vaccinated people do not need to wear masks or distance indoors or outdoors in most situations.

But the announcement represents a quantum shift in recommendations and a major loosening of the mask restrictions that Americans have had to live with since COVID-19 became a major part of USA life 15 months ago.

Harmons will be removing the mask requirement and signs in all its stores.
