"India is the largest vaccine-producing country in the world".

Last month, Fauci warned that the USA was on the brink of another COVID-19 surge and said that it would be wrong for Americans to ease up on masking and social distancing just because the country had exceeded its vaccination targets. He is the Chief Medical Adviser to US President Joe Biden. The U.S. had opposed the waiver, along with pharmaceutical companies, which are concerned about the precedent it would set. I believe that we will be about as close to back to normal as we can. You've got to give them credit. I have advised them in the past that you really need to do that.

"I hope that next Mother's Day, we're going to see a dramatic difference than what we're seeing right now. So it is conceivable that as we go on a year or two or more from now, that during certain seasonal periods when you have respiratory-borne viruses like the flu, people might actually elect to wear masks to diminish the likelihood that you'll be spreading these respiratory-borne diseases".

Dr. Anthony Fauci is urging countries like the United States to step up and help India curb the spread of COVID-19 cases. We've got to get it much, much lower than that.

Last week, the US government, non-profit and private sector organizations began sending shipments of aid to India.

China reported the first COVID-19 case in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in late 2019 and since then the deadly disease has become a pandemic, affecting more than 157,789,300 people and leading to over 3,285,200 deaths worldwide. You can't have people out in the street not having a hospital bed.

Looking ahead, if the USA reaches Biden's current goal of 70% or more people having at least one shot by July 4, "you may see blips, but if we handle them well, it is unlikely that you'll see the kind of surge that we saw in the late fall and the early winter", he said.
