Never has a public servant had a better group of people working at their side!

"Jill and I had the opportunity to speak to Fritz and his family over the weekend, to reflect on the years of friendship we shared, and how much we learned from and leaned on each other".

USA media reported that his family said he died on Monday. My best to all of you!

On Sunday, Mondale got in touch with Carter, former president Bill Clinton, and President Joe Biden to let them know his death was near, Axios reported. He called him an "invaluable partner", and spoke of how he transformed the role of the vice president. He was later named to the US Senate, where he represented Minnesota from 1964 until 1976, when he signed on as Carter's running mate.

"I took Fritz's roadmap", Biden said at an event honoring Mondale in 2015.

Mondale was US ambassador to Japan from 1993 and 1996 under the then administration of Bill Clinton, after serving as vice president to Jimmy Carter for four years through January 1981. William Mondale served for a time as an assistant attorney general.

"Today I mourn the passing of my dear friend Walter Mondale, who I consider the best vice president in our country's history". The pair lost their bid for a second term in office in 1980 but Mondale ran for president in 1984 and chose New York Rep. Geraldine Ferraro as his running mate, the first female running mate on a general election ticket.
