Broderick is wanted in the fatal shooting of three people in Austin, Texas, and police officials searching the surrounding area Sunday, April 18, 2021, warned residents that the suspect might take a hostage.

CNN has reached out to Austin police and fire for more information.

Three people were fatally shot in Austin on Sunday and no suspects are in custody, emergency responders said.

Police had received two phone calls about a suspicious person matching Broderick's description, Phipps said.

Police said the shooting was reported around noon at an apartment complex near the Great Hills Plaza and The Arboretum shopping area in northwestern Austin.

"It appears this is a domestic situation that is isolated and there is no risk to the general public", Austin Police tweeted.

"This is still an ongoing and active investigation and we do not have this individual in custody yet", Int.

The Austin Police Department and Travis County Sheriff's Office confirmed Broderick's arrest to CBS Austin. He said that the district attorney's office on Sunday filed a motion to revoke that bond and is actively supporting law enforcement as they pursue Broderick.

Authorities say Broderick knew the three victims, but didn't elaborate on how. He resigned after he was arrested previous year on a sexual assault charge.

Broderick's wife filed for divorce and a protective order after his arrest, the Statesman first reported, citing court documents. The area where officers responded includes a strip mall and several retail stores with a large apartment complex behind it. Chacon also said a child was involved but that the child has been located and is safe.
