India reports another record daily rise in Covid-19 infections

This is the third consecutive day that the country has registered over 2 lakh Covid cases.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has almost touched 12 crores as part of the world's largest vaccination drive, the Union Health Ministry has informed on Saturday. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 26,49,72,022 samples have so far been tested for the viral disease in the country, including 14,95,397 on Friday.

Delhi has a total of 11 administrative districts and a population of almost 2 crore. The daily active cases tally on Friday rose to 16,79,740.

The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (3,703,584), Kerala (1,197,301), Karnataka (1,109,650), Tamil Nadu (962,935), and Andhra Pradesh (942,135).

Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 63,729. Anti-covid jabs administered all across India reached almost 12 crore on Saturday at 11,99,37,641 with 30,04,544 vaccines given till 8 AM.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will take a review meeting on Saturday afternoon to take stock of the rising corona cases in the national capital. It now comprises 11.56 per cent of the country's total positive cases. As many as 1,338 deaths were recorded on the day.

The cumulative recoveries stand at 1,26,71,220 today. A total of 1,23,354 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours and 1,341 deaths were reported during the same period. Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties (398). Delhi follows with 141 daily deaths. The data is sourced from, an independent aggregator of daily COVID-19 figures.

The figures do not include cases and deaths from the Union Territory of Ladakh.
