With the funeral days away, the Queen carried out a ceremony at Windsor Castle on Wednesday to formally welcome her new Lord Chamberlain, former MI5 boss Baron Parker.

Prince Philip died aged 99 at Windsor Castle on April 9 after a 73-year marriage to the Queen.

"It has been shattered by Harry's swift and unexpected departure from his royal duties to live in the USA, and by the incendiary interview he and his wife gave to Oprah Winfrey in California as "Grandpa" lay gravely ill in hospital".

"We're not going to be drawn into those perceptions of drama, or anything like that", a palace spokesman said when questioned by reporters over the decision to split the brothers.

"The arrangements have been agreed, and they represent her majesty's wishes".

Members of the Royal Family will break with tradition and not wear military uniform at the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral.

However, according to British newspapers, there have been debates behind the scenes over what the queen's son Andrew and grandson Harry should wear.

Under the original plan, Prince Harry faced being one of the only close relatives not in uniform - despite serving with the Army in Afghanistan - as he lost his honorary titles when he quit royal duties.

Protocol suggests he can only wear a suit with medals.

Andrew, 61, the Duke of York, stepped away from official engagements because of his "ill-judged" association with the late disgraced US financier Jeffrey Epstein. Among the guests were 2200 members of the public, the royal family and Ms. Markle's Mother Doria Ragland. The children in the family will not attend.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions all 30 guests inside St George's Chapel, including the Queen who will be seated alone, will wear masks and social distancing will occur. The queen, always the first to set an example, will also wear a mask.

With the royals still mourning the duke's death, a previously unseen photo of Philip and the Queen with seven of their great-grandchildren was also released yesterday. Military personnel will have a large role in honoring him Saturday despite the attendance limit.

The palace said Harry and William, who reportedly have not spoken since the Sussexes' explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey last month, will be separated by their cousin Peter Phillips as they take part in the funeral procession to escort the duke's coffin to St George's Chapel inside the castle.

On Thursday, Charles and his wife Camilla visited Marlborough House in central London to see a sea of floral tributes for Philip, which have been moved there from the gates of Buckingham Palace.
