Will you watch or attend the 2021 All-Star Game?

Greg Abbott on Monday declined an invitation to throw out the first pitch at the Texas Rangers' home opening game, announcing that Texas will not seek to host the All-Star Game or any other Major League Baseball special events following MLB's decision to remove the All-Star Game out of Atlanta due to criticism of a Georgia election law.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp recently denounced the MLB move as a figment of "cancel culture", saying the league was swayed by activists.

When the MLB took the summertime game away from Atlanta, Manfred, the baseball commissioner, called it "the best way to demonstrate our values as a sport", adding that the league "fundamentally supports voting rights for all Americans and opposes restrictions to the ballot box". "So what I'm being told, they also have a photo ID requirement. There are a whole lot of people that can throw out that ball", Turner said.

While Georgia requires identification for all in-person and absentee voting, Colorado law requires identification for in-person voting and first-time mail-in voters may be required to include a copy of their ID with their ballot.

Inaccurate or misleading statements about Colorado's voting laws have been popping up Tuesday, shortly after Major League Baseball announced the All-Star Game would be coming to Denver. But those plans were derailed by the controversy over Georgia's new law, which President Biden labeled "Jim Crow in the 21st century".

"This attack on our state is the direct result of repeated lies from Joe Biden and Stacey Abrams about a bill that expands access to the ballot box and ensures the integrity of our elections".

"A attractive ballpark in a state whose voting system is created to enable safe, secure, and easy-to-use voting", Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser said in a tweet.

Both states require voters to show an ID when voting in person, although Georgia requires a proof of identity to verify absentee votes.

Georgia voters without ID can use the last four digits of their social security number, a utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or another government document with their name and address on it, according to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger's office. Colorado Public Radio reported that ballots rejected because of signature discrepancies are most likely to impact young voters or voters from counties with a high number of non-white residents. The Washington Post reported that because the costs of voting are higher for minorities, they are the largest beneficiaries of early voting opportunities. Colorado has a much smaller Black population than Georgia, about 9 percent versus 51 percent. They are one of a handful of states that mails every eligible voter an absentee ballot by mail automatically.
