Cochrane has added 35 new cases since Thursday for a total of 82 active cases.

"It's natural to be frustrated and to be sick and exhausted of this pandemic", Hinshaw said. The outbreak started with a traveller returning to Alberta from out of province.

Later Monday evening, CityNews received confirmation from PTW Energy Services that it was the employer in question.

Some are saying the province took concept of spring break a little too literally over the Easter long weekend, leaving COVID-concerned Albertans parched for information as the pandemic sprouted new variants. It's not clear if they're connected to the PTW outbreak.

The province saw another 887 new cases in the past 24 hours after 9,102 tests were performed for a positivity rate of 9.89%.

There are now 312 people in hospital due to the virus, 76 of whom are in the ICU.

Four new deaths were reported on Monday.

Premier Jason Kenney says Alberta is now seeing a third wave of COVID-19, driven mainly by the more contagious and risky variants.

Alberta's chief medical officer has said 26 COVID-19 cases have been linked to three sites belonging to a business with operations across Western Canada, and so far three are confirmed to be the variant first found in Brazil.

As for vaccines, Alberta has distributed over 707,000 doses to date with 116,198 Albertans now fully vaccinated with two doses.

This now includes Albertans with underlying health conditions born in or before 1973.
