4.0 magnitude natural disaster rattles Los Angeles area

That quake was recorded at 4:44 a.m. PT (7:44 a.m. ET) and was 19.9 km deep. There were no immediate reports of any damage.

The quake was centered near the intersection of Prairie and Century boulevards.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) says the epicenter was just east of the Los Angeles International Airport, along Century Boulevard on the south side of Hollywood Park. She added it was likely not on any mapped faults.

This was followed by a 2.5 magnitude aftershock that was recorded only minutes later near to where the initial quake struck.

In the last 10 days, there have been three earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.

A 4.0 magnitude natural disaster jolted the Lennox area of Los Angeles County early Monday morning, according to the US Geological Survey.
