Students were changing classes this morning when a 15-year-old reportedly shot a classmate in the hallway at Watson Chapel Junior High in Pine Bluff.

One 15-year-old boy shot another 15-year-old boy, prompting a lockdown.

The wounded boy was airlifted to a Little Rock hospital where he was "in very serious condition", Sergeant said.

Sergeant said police dogs tracked and correctional officials tracked him to his hiding spot near the school.

He was transported to a juvenile detention facility pending the filing of formal charges. It looks as if the shooter targeted the victim, and it was not a random shooting, he said.

According to ABC News, the Watson Chapel School District said that all other students in the school were unharmed, calling the shooting an "isolated incident". PBPD Chief Kevlin Sergeant said a decision is expected within the next 48 hours as to whether the alleged perpetrator will be tried as an adult. 'The parent of the student hurt has been notified so if you have not been notified by the school your student is safe and secure'.

All students "are safe at this time", the district reported.
