"Human beings are not bartering chips", Biden said about the detained Canadian citizens.

Former White House senior adviser Stephen Miller, one of the proud architects of ex-President Donald Trump's child separation policy at the southern border, is very concerned for the wellbeing of young migrants now that President Joe Biden is at the helm of the usa immigration system. "A small part of me would relish seeing our disgraced former President lose again in court, but I much prefer seeing President Biden undo his predecessor's will with a stroke of his pen".

"The United States is the birthplace of this technology, and has always been a leader in semiconductor development", the White House said.

The U.S. president said the meeting was the first of what he thinks will be many "close and cooperative sessions" between the leaders.

In February, a group of G-20 diplomats said the USA blocked any mention of climate change among financial leaders.

The pair held a virtual meeting yesterday where they discussed a number of pressing issues including the Covid-19 emergency and climate change.

Republicans have also pushed Mr Biden to do more to address reliance on China, while business and technology lobby groups have also called on the administration to introduce investment tax credits to encourage the building of more U.S. semiconductor manufacturing plants, where the chips are produced.

Biden also ended Trump's national emergency declaration on the southern border, although 3,600 troops will remain in place until the end of the fiscal year.

A federal judge a year ago issued a ruling that all but lifted Proclamation 10052 by allowing temporary foreign workers to enter the United States if their employers are members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce or several other large organizations that represent much of the U.S. economy. "But we're going to need legislation for a lot of these we're going to do".

And Biden's "Buy American" order that strengthened requirements for federal spending, clamping down on contractors' use of foreign suppliers, may spell trouble for Canadian suppliers who sell to USA companies that contract with the federal government.

"This order will ensure that unemployed Americans of all backgrounds will be first in line for jobs as our economy reopens", he said at the White House at the time. The U.S. has sought the extradition of Meng - who is the daughter of the company's founder - to try her on fraud charges. "It's heart-wrenching and it's a really hard decision, but it's the best decision we felt we could make to keep these kids safe and get them into the right places and the right homes", Psaki added.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Thursday wouldn't say whether there was a crisis at the southern border amid a recent influx of undocumented immigrants.
