The jaws of life refers to tools used to pry open vehicles involved in accidents when a victim may be trapped inside. A later statement determined that report was inaccurate.

According to Golf Digest, Woods suffered "multiple leg injuries" and was in surgery following the accident.

A sheriff's department spokeswoman said Woods' representatives would address his injuries. "The vehicle sustained major damage".

The crash took place in Los Angeles on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes.

Aerial video of the accident, which happened about 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles, shows a silver SUV on the side of the road in the grass and on its side.

Woods, 45, hasn't played a PGA event since the rescheduled Masters in November, though he and his son Charlie participated in an exhibition event in December.

According to Golf Digest, also owned by Discovery, the TV shoot was on-course lessons for celebrities, such as Spade and former National Basketball Association star Dwyane Wade.

According to the local CBS station, Woods' vehicle traveled almost 500 feet before coming to a stop off the road.

A call to Woods' agent went to voice mail.

Woods suffered multiple leg injuries in a single-vehicle accident in the Los Angeles area and was rushed to hospital for surgery.

"Fight @tigerwoods like the champion you are for your kids and the world", Mike Tyson wrote.

Officials say Woods' SUV crashed into a median around 7 a.m. while navigating a stretch of road that is known for accidents in suburban Los Angeles.

Instead, his mind was focused on Tiger Woods - who was involved in a single vehicle auto crash and rushed to a hospital in the Los Angeles area hours earlier. He also thanked the public for their "privacy and support".

A KABC-TV helicopter over the scene of Woods' accident showed a vehicle on its side with the front end heavily damaged. Air bags appeared to be deployed.

Tiger Woods has been injured in a rollover crash that required him to be cut out of the vehicle. That wreck was very minor, and no one was hurt.

While his vehicle was badly damaged, the airbags deployed and the interior of the auto remained bascially intact, giving Woods "a cushion to survive the crash", according to Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva.

Woods was in Los Angeles to attend last weekend's Genesis Invitational, where he presented the winner's trophy. He was reportedly scheduled to be filming with GOLFTV on Monday and Tuesday.

According to Golf Digest, also owned by Discovery, the TV shoot was on-course lessons to celebrities, such as Spade and Dwyane Wade. He did not play.

Just months later, Woods completed the most improbable of comebacks by winning the 2019 Masters to secure his first major win for 11 years. He had a fifth surgery on his back, a microdiscectomy, two days before Christmas and gave no indication when he would return. "I just hope he's all right".

But it wouldn't be a subsequent knee surgery that derailed his career, instead it was transgressions in his personal life - revealed to the media and public in 2009 as the result of another vehicle crash - that would ultimately put a halt to his golf.
