Princess Eugenie names her son August Philip Hawke Brooksbank

Following the child's birth Buckingham Palace said the Queen and Philip were delighted at the news, as were Eugenie's parents the Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, and Jack's parents Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank.

One day after welcoming their firstborn, Princess Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank experienced one of the most nerve-wracking moments a new parent can have as they left Portland Hospital in London with their royal baby - taking their newborn for his first ever vehicle ride in his brand new auto seat. The baby weighs 8lbs 1oz.

On the day of his birth, Princess Eugenie, 30, and Jack, 35, gave the world the first glimpse of their baby, posting a black and white image on Instagram of their hands cradling his tiny fingers and wrist. The Cambridge family have close links with Spain - the children have a Spanish nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, and Kate often dresses her children in Spanish brands, like Pepa & Co, Amaia Kids and Irulea.

Princess Eugenie is "doing really well" after having a C-section to welcome her baby boy due to her previous spinal surgery for scoliosis. In fact, Jack's full name is Jack Christopher Stamp Brooksbank. He was the governor of the Bank of England in the 18th century.

The couple were pictured leaving the hospital last weekend, with Eugenie smiling and waving from the auto.

The couple leave Portland Hospital for Women on February 12 with their son.
