There are also 64 confirmed and active outbreaks of Covid-19 in care homes - a drop of 26 in the last seven days.

It brings the official death toll as recorded by the department to 2,009, although that figure is expected to be significantly higher when deaths in all community settings have been accounted for.

Henry also provided an update on the spread of coronavirus variants of concern in B.C. Officials have now confirmed 40 cases of the variant first identified in the United Kingdom, 19 of the variant first identified in South Africa and one of a lesser known variant from Nigeria.

There were 302 cases added to the total between Monday and Tuesday.

There are now 477 Covid-19 inpatients in Northern Ireland's hospitals, with 59 patients in an intensive care unit. Of them, 174 are now intubated.

As of Tuesday, 171,755 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, including 22,914 second doses.

The figures, for the seven days to February 10, are based on tests carried out in laboratories.

Henry notes that the case numbers we see today reflect transmission that occurred weeks ago.

The latest data comes as the World Health Organization listed the AstraZeneca and University of Oxford vaccine for emergency use. Another 431 were reported in the next period, and 348 between Sunday and Monday. "But we still need to scale up production".

Health officials say the coronavirus remains widespread across the state, but the surge that made Arizona the nation's hot spot last month is receding. That applies to Phase 2-eligible residents, including healthcare workers, first responders, long-term care residents and staff, congregate care residents and staff and people 75-years-old or older.
