Dele Alli is still ‘needed’ by Tottenham after Jose Mourinho summit

"We spoke around this question that you asked me and I think we found very common ground".

Plenty of Spurs fans have wanted to see Alli playing regularly again, and these clear-the-air talks, plus the No. 10 slot now being more open, is great news for player and fans. We are just waiting for him to be back to normality, training with the team.

But Mourinho believes Alli is motivated to force his way back into the starting line-up. We are also in the FA Cup next week but I don't think he will be in time for that one.

Players like Hojbjerg, who have a strong character and a lot of self-belief, are exactly the kind of personalities we need in the dressing room to help us come out of our current poor run of form.

"It's not just Dele".

"I had a good conversation with him yesterday", Mourinho told "And that opens the space where is not any more about Tanguy or Dele, Tanguy or Gio, can be Tanguy and Gio, or Tanguy and Dele".

"Dele, [Harry] Kane, [Giovani] Lo Celso, we're talking about players that without all three we miss a little creation, some magic around the attacking areas".

We can understand why as well, Spurs really need to put together a run of results if they're to get their season back on track, but that's going to be hard without Reguilon and Lo Celso available. A conversation does not make miracles but I believe that the conversation was maybe the extra motivation he needed.

Spurs are back in action on Thursday at home to Chelsea, where they will look to recover their best form after suffering back-to-back defeats against Liverpool and Brighton.

"I think it's not a very optimistic thing to say next week he should be playing, it will be just a outcome of his good evolution". For one of the matches next week he should be back'.

"So, we're happy. We were scared when it happened, but next week we play Everton and City at the weekend".
