As Clubhouse is now a free app, the monetization from creators will allow the company to bring in money as well.

Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, various social media apps have positively gained from it. One of the criticisms of the app is its exclusivity.

Clubhouse, the latest hype in the social media world, announced that it will be introducing creator payments to the app. With great freedom of speech for the Clubhouse app means it also needs to take more responsibility for its actions. You can not hide your emotions behind those fake smiles in your photos. Until now, the audio application is only available for the iPhone. The company is also planning to roll out the social media platform to Android users. Developers are working on the Android version for Clubhouse, which can only be used by iOS users with the invitation system. Live Nation, Scooter Braun, and many others have made substantial investments in livestreaming, while Jay-Z's TIDAL has purchased $7 million worth of Sensorium VR "tokens", or the currency that players will use in Sensorium's upcoming Galaxy hub.

Well-known members of the rap community including Drake, MC Hammer, 21 Savage, Meek Mill, and Lupe Fiasco have joined the likes of reported Clubhouse users such as Joe Budden, Tiffany Haddish, Oprah Winfrey, Ashton Kutcher, and Mark Cuban on the platform.

In an official blog post, Clubhouse announced that it has successfully secured a second round of funding led by Andreessen Horowitz through the firm's partner, Andrew Chen. "It's the most exciting thing we've ever been a part of", the company says. "Much of a new round of funding will go into technology and infrastructure to scale the clubhouse experience for everyone, so it's always fast and reliable no matter how many people attend". Plus, the platform plans on bolstering its servers as well as its support and moderation teams, besides improving its discovery functions.

In this vein, Clubhouse intends to use the reportedly $100 million tranche to further develop its community, including by releasing an Android version of the app. The new Creator Grant Program is especially important for Clubhouse's longevity, as it will provide an incentive to new creators to hop onto the platform and also help the platform make some money in the process. So nice move Clubhouse.
