Residents of the southern city of Sderot said they heard an explosion Saturday morning but were unclear about the source.

The Interior Minister added that the explosion apparently took place in one home but was powerful enough to cause damage to surrounding buildings.

Effective July 2018, access to full reports will only be available with a subscription.

The Ministry said the causes of the explosion are still under investigation and added that the medics moved at least 27 Palestinians to the Indonesian Hospital, in northern Gaza, Al-Manar reported.

Witnesses said several homes were damaged as a result of the explosion in the home of an "activist".

Islamist group Hamas seized control of Gaza from rival Palestinian movement Fatah in a near civil war in 2007.

IDF Arabic-language spokesperson Lt. Col. Avichai Adraee commented in a tweet: "The story of this house is the story of many other homes in the Gaza Strip that have become weapons and missiles warehouses for terrorist organizations".

Since then, Hamas has fought three devastating wars with Israel, which has maintained a crippling blockade on the territory of some two million people.
