The victor can choose between long-term payments or a $739.6 million lump-sum payout before taxes, according to Mega Millions.

The winning numbers were 4-26-42-50-60 and a Mega Ball number of 24, the lottery said.

Friday's Mega Millions draw was - according the organisers - one of the biggest prizes ever offered in a lottery, and some lucky person has scooped the whole amount.

The Powerball prize has reverted to $20 million for the Saturday, Jan. 23, drawing. It was not immediately known where exactly the ticket had been sold. The odds of winning the jackpot with a $1 ticket are 1-in-13,983,816.

As for why no one has emerged victorious since September 15, 2020, the one-in-302,575,350 odds - in which players must correctly match the five regular numbers - ranging from one to 70 - and the Mega Millions ball, which runs from one to 25 - is the key factor. The ticket was sold at the Gulf Mart on Central Avenue in Pearl River, the New York State lottery reports. Both were Quick Pick winners. Thirteen other tickets also won at least $1 million after they matched the first five digits without hitting the Powerball, CNN reported. The odds of winning the jackpot is 1 in 302 million. A player wins the jackpot by matching all six winning numbers in a drawing. Did you win? If so, the cash payout is about $739.6 million if you choose to go that route. Mega Million tickets are sold in 44 states, as well as the District of Columbia, and the US Virgin Islands. The drawing will be held at 11 p.m. Tickets cost $2 each.
