Singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter, newly signed to Island Records, is making a splash with her surprise first release on the label: a song that obviously addresses the drama surrounding her, "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" stars Joshua Bassett and Olivia Rodrigo, and Rodrigo's smash hit, "Drivers License".

Rumours have swirled online about a love triangle between Rodrigo, her High School Musical co-star Joshua Bassett, 20, and actress Carpenter, 21, best known for starring in the Disney series Girl Meets World.

Many fans have speculated that Rodrigo's song is about the rumored relationship between Bassett and Carpenter. This could be in reference to the song's title "Driver's License".

"Maybe then we could pretend there's no gravity in the words we write".

Sabrina also sings in the pre-chorus, "And I'm not asking you to let it go / But you been tellin' your side / So I'll be telling mine".

In the chorus, Sabrina sings, "You can try / To get under my, under my, under my skin / While hе's on mine".

"I totally understand people's curiosity with the specifics of who the song's about and what it's about, but to me, that's really the least important part of the song", she says.

Fast forward to November, Joshua and Sabrina Carpenter were uploading TikTok videos on their respective accounts, which made fans believe that they have also spent a lot of time together during quarantine.
