New PUBG Games Reportedly Coming in 2021 and 2022

At 242k players (via Steamcharts), the older battle royale is resting comfortably as Steam's third most popular title, bested only by Valve's own DOTA 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. However, those who want something fresh will be glad to know that the game's developer is brewing up something new to bring to the table, giving fans something to look forward to.

Kim Chang-han, the victor of national coding competitions in South Korea in the 1980s, is planning to launch an initial public offering (IPO) worth billions in mid-to-late 2021. According to Bloomberg, a new game "tied to PUBG" will be available "by next year", while another battle royale for mobile also arrives in 2021.

PUBG Mobile Season 17 is has been released and offers a new Royale Pass along with new skins and emotes. However, based on information in the Bloomberg profile, we can confidently say that the game will be coming this year. It had revenue of more than $1.1 billion in the nine months ended September, according to a company filing.

This won't be the only PUBG spinoff, as the parent company of developer and publisher PUBG Corp is planning several games that will be somehow related to the multiplayer shooter in some way, shape or form. Multiple platforms, namely PC and consoles, will supposedly be able to support this one. As a last attempt to succeed in the business, he decided to make what is known as a battle royale game, an online game where players compete against one another in an ever-shrinking battlefield to be the last person standing.

Game company Krafton is now working on two new projects related to PUBG aside from upcoming The Callisto Protocol. However, the article also alludes to the company's surprise survival horror title, The Callisto Protocol.

Interestingly, this isn't surprising considering Glen Schofield, the creator of Dead Space is working on it too. 2022 will also see the release of "another PUBG-related PC and console game". At this point, it could be anything.
