Meanwhile, improvements appear to have started.

Google Maps presently precisely shows subtleties like street width, rounded corners, and roadside vegetation.

The detailed street view is rolling out as a server-side update, and it should reach most users in the coming days.

"You can also see exactly where sidewalks, crosswalks, and pedestrian islands are located-crucial information if you have accessibility needs, like wheelchair or stroller requirements", Google said in a blog post.

Needless to say, Google will soon bring the same update to more regions across the world, as the rollout is taking place gradually.

Those locations include Central London, Tokyo, San Francisco and NY, and effectively add a whole bunch more detail to its maps, more accurately reflecting real life obstacles and things like pedestrian crossings. Today's latest update is focused on improving the visual quality and detail of the default layer - especially for nature - in Google Maps. Google announced the feature in August, along with the arrival of a more detailed color representation.

It is striking that the function seems to be linked to your Google account.

Several phones have been given access to jobs in the Androidworld editorial office. Already see the job in Google Maps?

The change is subtle but pretty significant - as you can see from our header image, places like Trafalgar Square are suddenly layered with more information about how you would actually go about crossing its complicated road system. Let us know in the comments at the bottom of the article.

Google Maps is the Google app when it comes to maps. Google Maps contains detailed maps of the whole world, making it easy to read local.
