Federal Bureau of Investigation arrests local musician, Jon Schaffer, for rioting at The Capitol

Jon Schaffer, guitarist and founder of metal band Iced Earth, was arrested Sunday in IN and is facing multiple charges for his participation in the deadly Capitol riot on January 6.

According to the IN police, the metal guitarist surrendered to authorities after being placed on the FBI's wanted list.

Jon Ryan Schaffer is the man pointing his finger. Shortly after, the guitarist was placed on an Federal Bureau of Investigation wanted list for his involvement in the riots.

Schaffer is believed to be one of at least 200 people who are being investigated by FBI officials over their roles in the insurrection.

Schaffer's four bandmates had put out a statement denouncing the riots.

FBI Indianapolis released a statement in the early hours of this morning (18th January) confirming that 52-year-old Schaffer faces a total of six charges for his alleged role in the violence.

"During an interview in 2017, Schaffer identified himself as an 'anarchist" and referred to the federal government as a 'criminal enterprise.' During that same interview, Schaffer stated that the 2016 Presidential election was 'rigged'. On Sunday, the Indiana FBI confirmed that the guitarist has surrendered to authorities.

"We absolutely DO NOT condone nor do we support riots or the acts of violence that the rioters were involved in on January 6th at the US Capitol building". They say he allegedly used bear spray against Capitol Police.

A Columbus man is in custody in connection to the U.S. Capitol riots on January 6th.

Schaffer was photographed and captured on surveillance video carrying "bear spray" and engaging in verbal altercations with Capitol police officers inside the Capitol building. "Schaffer was allegedly among rioters who sprayed Capitol police with 'bear spray'".

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Schaffer has been charged with crimes including engaging in violence in a restricted building and disorderly conduct. Because now we see you, and you're going down, mark my words.

"We hope that all those involved that day are brought to justice to be investigated and answer for their actions", the statement read.
