The German has not played for Mikel Arteta's side since March a year ago and has just six months left on his contract at the Emirates.

Arteta has hinted that the priority of the January window is to offload the players he deems surplus to requirements, claiming they can not sustain having such a big squad.

"Arsenal want to conclude the deal with Mesut Ozil, as soon as possible, because they need to go for a quality midfielder, so selling him is so important for Arsenal", Romano said on the Que Golazo Podcast.

"I definitely will", he replied.

"I grew up as a @Fenerbahce fan as a kid in Germany - every German-Turkish person supports a Turkish team when they grow up in Germany". "And mine was Fenerbahce. The biggest club in the country", Ozil added. The gunners chose to appoint Mikel Arteta as their new head coach after they fired Unai Emery and he used Mesut Ozil in his first few games in the Premier League until the league got suspended due to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 32-year-old, who is under contract until June and earns a reported 350,000 pounds ($473,235) per week, was not included in the club's Premier and Europa League squads for the 2020-21 season.

"There have been many ups and downs so far, but all in all I've never regretted my decision to join Arsenal".

"I look very positively on behalf of the community and the president, but I do not see it easily. But after the break things unfortunately changed".
