The game is being developed by Avalanche Software, the studio behind games such as the Disney Infinity series, the Sega Genesis and SNES port of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and the PS1 port of Mortal Trilogy Trilogy, as well as many movie adaptations, everything from Rugrats to Toy Story.

Hogwarts Legacy, the highly anticipated open-world RPG set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, has been delayed from 2021 into an unspecified date in 2022. The game had been scheduled for release in 2021, but will now be another 12 months in the making.

In a statement posted on the game's Twitter account, the developer stated that the team needed all of the time to create the Wizarding World that gaming fans deserve.

We've only gotten one good look at Hogwarts Legacy - there was a reveal trailer back in September during the PS5 showcase event - but otherwise, we've been left to glean details from an FAQ.

While many may be exhausted of hearing about Harry Potter - and especially of hearing about its creator and her crummy opinions - Hogwarts Legacy is hoped to reinvigorate goodwill toward the franchise.

Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world RPG set in and around the Hogwarts school grounds.

When Hogwarts Legacy finally does launch, it will be available on a wide range of platforms including PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart.
