More than a month after the game's troubled launch, CD Projekt RED finally issued a full public statement about what happened with the gap between the PC and previous-gen console versions of the game.

Q: Why was there a gap between PC and console reviews? That was our core assumption. Come December 10th, launch day, we had a really good start with PC reviews, and while it's not ideal, this is a version of the game we were, and still are, very proud of. He does touch on review timing for console copy, stating that when the team did start sending console code on December 8th - after the PC reviews were live - it was later than they originally planned due to iterating on the Day Zero update for launch.

Q: What have you done since launch to make the game better? Three hotfixes have been deployed already, and Iwiński says a more substantial update will arrive within the next ten days.

After that, he said, the studio can start looking at launching the free story DLC they have in store for Cyberpunk 2077. You can expect more in the way of patches-both small and large-to be released regularly.

The goal going forward is to make sure users on all platforms can play the RPG game without running into bugs and crashes.

In it, Iwiński tries to address numerous criticisms of the Cyberpunk 2077 since its December 10 release, many of which have revolved around extremely poor performance on PS4 and Xbox One and the fact that the company seemingly tried to hide this version of the game from reviewers prior to release, despite the studio routinely downplaying concerns about how the game played on those platforms. "As we got closer to the final release, we saw significant improvements each and every day, and we really believed we'd deliver in the final day zero update". The highlight of it, of course, is that the free next-gen update is now specifically targeted for the second half of 2021. We're aiming for the second half of the year and we'll reveal more when we have more to share.

"Cyberpunk 2077 is huge in scope, and I'm not only talking about quests or things you see at first glance, I'm talking about a multitude of custom objects, interacting systems and mechanics".

Q: Are you making the team crunch to work on the patches? . From controversy surrounding health concerns and cut content, to accusations of false advertising, Cyberpunk 2077 was a hot button topic and point of discussion all throughout December.
