The Trump Organisation profits about 17 million U.S. dollars a year from those sites, Mr de Blasio said.

That wide rejection comes at an very bad time for Trump's company, which was already struggling - with its hotels emptied by the pandemic and more than $400 million in unpaid loans looming. The lone article of impeachment is for inciting an insurrection on January 6.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Mets owner Steve Cohen announced on Tuesday morning that Citi Field will serve as a vaccination site for COVID-19, a part of the city's push to vaccinate the population.

The Independent previously reported that Mr de Blasio said: "The president incited a rebellion against the United States government, a clearly unconstitutional act and people died".

"The City of NY will not be associated with those unforgivable acts in any shape, way or form, and we are immediately taking steps to terminate all Trump Organization contracts", he added. The contracts for the carousel and the ice rinks would end in coming weeks.

The Trump Organization pockets $17 million a year for operating the skating rinks, the carousel and the golf course.

De Blasio had said earlier that the city was examining its legal options to end the Trump contracts.

"Inciting an insurrection against the USA government clearly constitutes criminal activity", he said during the interview. "The city of NY will not be associated with those unforgivable acts in any shape, way or form".

The contracts contain language, including words like "arbitrary" and "capricious", that forbids cancelling the deals if it appears to be because of personal animus.

New York City is severing its contracts with President Donald Trump's eponymous company, a move that could cost the outgoing president millions of dollars in response to his role in inciting the Capitol insurrection. Termination of the contract for the Carousel, which is now closed, will be effective 25 days after notification is delivered to the Trump Organization. The process for terminating the Ferry Point Golf Course is more detailed and is expected to take months, De Blasio said in a statement.

On its website, it says: 'For over three decades, the Trump Organization has proudly managed both of Central Park's Public Skating Rinks along with the iconic Central Park Carousel'.
