The New York Mets have been searching for years for a superstar position player. He did say, however, that he doesn't want those negotiations to interfere with his focus on the season when spring training rolls around.

In the conversation, Lindor noted that he has been speaking with the coaches, some players and the new owner of the team, Steven Cohen, and the intention of the whole group is to lead the Mets to win the World Series.

"They say there is a lot of pressure in New York", Lindor said. "I'm living my dream".

Lindor, who is a career.285 hitter, was acquired by the Mets for shortstops Andres Gimenez, Amed Rosario and three prospects. I have heard nothing but great things about the organizations.

"I live life day by day", Lindor said on more than one occasion Monday.

Regarding his contract, Lindor explained that it is short-lived but he hopes his team and the Mets will negotiate and if the numbers work for both he is not closed to a long-term extension. Lindor said. "You were incredible". MLBTradeRumors.com projects Lindor to earn $21.5 million through the arbitration process.

That schedule could change if Lindor agrees to terms on a long-term deal.

"We talked and we gave it our best effort on both sides", Lindor said.

Cohen, a billionaire hedge fund manager, bought the Mets on November 6 from the Wilpon and Katz families.

Lindor saw how the Los Angeles Dodgers worked out a lucrative long-term extension with Mookie Betts after they acquired him from the Boston Red Sox prior to last season.

Outfielder George Springer and second baseman DJ LeMahieu remain possibilities among free agents. "Like I said, I'm not against a long-term [contract]". I have never been against an extension.

Francisco Lindor's biggest victory did not come on the baseball field. That's what I'm bringing. That's what I'm bringing. I'm bringing my, 'Hey guys. let's find a way to do this together. I know you guys have a great thing going on.

"I just embrace that". It comes, however, with a bittersweet feeling after all he's been through with the Indians. He praised Cleveland but looked ahead enthusiastically. I love the Indians. "I'm going to smile, I'm going to have fun, I'm going to enjoy the ride brother". When you've submitted your account email, we will send an email with a reset code.
