Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was pleased with their 3-0 FA Cup defeat of Birmingham City.

However, he was not in the matchday squad, with Gabriel Jesus starting the 3-0 victory over the Championship side.

"Unfortunately, he was in contact more than usual with one person who is positive", Guardiola said after the match.

Sergio Aguero's disrupted season has suffered another setback with Manchester City's all-time top goalscorer forced into self-isolation after coming into close contact with a positive coronavirus case. "He must isolate for a few days".

"I don't know exactly how long he will be missing because he has been tested, like all of us, six times in the past 10 or 15 days".

City coasted into the fourth round, and Guardiola was even able to rest a number of players having substituted the likes of De Bruyne and Ruben Dias at half time.

USA men's national team and former Columbus Crew SC goalkeeper Zack Steffen drew another start for Manchester City on Sunday and put it another solid shift between the posts as City took a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Birmingham FC in FA Cup action.

Aguero had been hoping to make his first start since October having continued to struggle with injuries this season. Next up for City are home games against Brighton, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa in the Premier League before a trip to West Brom on 26 January.
