In October, Showtime announced that it had ordered a 10-episode Dexter limited series, with original EP Clyde Phillips back as showrunner. The show's finale, which saw Dexter fake his death and embark on a self-imposed exile, caused major controversy amongst fans so here's hoping the new season will make up for it.

Showtime just announced new information about its upcoming "Dexter" revival, which is set to begin filming in MA later this month.

The show will take place in the fictional upstate NY town of Iron Lake, but primary production will take place in MA. In addition, the new setting of the limited series has finally been revealed through the four new characters' official descriptions. It's not been confirmed but it seems most likely that United Kingdom fans will be able to catch the revival on Sky, given that seasons one to eight remain available to stream on Sky and NOW TV.

'Dexter' Casts Julia Jones, Johnny Sequoyah & More For Rebooted Series

Julia is set to star as Angela Bishop, the first Native American Chief of Police in her town in upstate NY, and Johnny will play her "brash and opinionated" teenage daughter Audrey. In the polarizing series finale, the action shifted to the backwoods of OR, where Michael C. Hall's presumed-dead vigilante began a new life as a shut-in. Miller will play Logan, a sergeant for the Iron Lake Police Department and the assistant wrestling coach for the local high school.

In an interview with The Daily Beast, Hall said that having a chance to give "Dexter" a new ending appealed to him.

As TVLine exclusively reported earlier this month, veteran character actor Clancy Brown (Carnivale and Billions) will play the revival's primary antagonist Kurt Caldwell, the unofficial mayor of Iron Lake.
