"Marlon and I are feeling well so far, and are in good spirits", Polis said in the statement.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis and his partner Marlon Reis tested positive for COVID-19 according to an announcement sent out by the governor.

The state has been hit with a substantial spike in COVID-19 cases.

"No person or family is immune to this virus", he added in a Facebook post.

Police have joined forces with several top American politicians who have tested positive for the COVID-19, including President Donald Trump and several governors. "There is more of the virus circulating across the country, including in Colorado, now than there even was in the spring". On Wednesday, the office of Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon (R) said Gordon had tested positive but had only "minor symptoms" and would go on working remotely. The state estimated Tuesday that one in 41 people here are contagious, and Polis and other officials have been warning for weeks of a potential catastrophic overload of the state health care system.

A number of governors have gotten the virus that they are tasked with combating.
