Italian actress and Suspiria co-writer Daria Nicolodi dies at 70

Daria Nicolodi, the Italian actress and screenwriter, has died at the age of 70.

"He had already reached fame with another type of author's film, "Uomini Contro" (Men Against War"), from 1970, directed by Francesco Rosi, and with director Elio Petri when Nicolodi met Argento precisely on the set of "Profondo Rosso" in 1974.

In addition to his works with Argento, Nicolodi starred in Mario Bava's latest film "Shock" (1977).

Writer and director Jamie Righetti was also gutted by the actress' passing as he penned, "Daria Nicolodi co-wrote SUSPIRIA and contributed so much to giallo as a whole".

Nicolodi also had a daughter, Anna, with sculptor Mario Ceroli in 1973 but she died in a 1994 auto accident.

"Rest in peace beloved mummy, " Argento wrote on Instagram, without giving a cause of death.

Her relationship with Dario came to an end in the mid-80s, but she later starred in another one of his films, "The Mother of Tears", alongside Asia.

Nicolodi appeared in numerous horror movies directed by her offscreen partner Dario Argento including 1975's Deep Red, 1982's Tenebrae, 1985's Phenomena, and 1987's Opera.
