The Indian broad had granted Kohli paternity leave earlier this month. They clarified that Rohit had not traveled to Australia with the squad straight after the IPL as he had to return home to see his ailing father. While he's building up his workload in order to achieve Test match fitness, Mr Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The board also said that it will have further clarity on Rohit Sharma's participation in the upcoming Test series based on his next assessment which will be conducted on December 11.

"He is presently undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA". The retro jersey was first introuced in the 1992 World Cup and India had won the same jersey during their sojourn in Australia and New Zealand. While Ishant returned to India midway through the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) season after tearing an abdominal muscle, Rohit stayed back despite a hamstring tear, leading Mumbai Indians to a fifth title. "We want the best possible players playing, but we are in the government's hands now", a top Cricket Australia (CA) official told Sportstar. "We all thought that he would be on the flight to Australia which he wasn't and we had no information whatsoever on the reason behind him not flying to Australia", Kohli had said during the virtual press conference.

It is to be recalled that there were several speculations about a rift between Kohli and Rohit past year after the latter and his wife Ritika Sajdeh had unfollowed the Indian skipper's actress wife Anushka Sharma on social media.

Australia's cricket board has requested its federal government to relax the mandatory 14-day quarantine period for persons entering the country so that India players Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma can take part in the forthcoming four-match Test series Down Under.
