The Avengers star is all set to play Ryan's father in the forthcoming sci-fi adventure, "The Adam Project".

Catherine Keener (Get Out) has also joined The Adam Project, and more plot details have come to light as well: while the movie was touted as having a time travel element, it's now been revealed that Reynolds plays a man who journeys to the past to seek help from himself at 13 years of age. Mallari will portray the villain's right hand.

Levy is directing from a script by Jonathan Tropper (Banshee), based on an earlier screenplay by T.S. Nowlin (The Maze Runner).

Production is now under way in Reynolds' hometown of Vancouver, with the actor reuniting with his Free Guy director Shawn Levy.

MCU alum and Oscar nominee Mark Ruffalo (Spotlight, Foxcatcher, I Know This Much Is True) and Oscar nominee Catherine Keener (Capote, Being John Malkovich, An American Crime) have boarded director Shawn Levy's sci-fi action movie The Adam Project, also starring Golden Globe nominee Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), Zoe Saldana (Guardians of the Galaxy), and Golden Globe victor Jennifer Garner (Alias), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Netflix is clearly loving being in the Ryan Reynolds business, with the actor appearing in Michael Bay's recent action flick 6 Underground, and due to appear alongside Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot in the big-budget action flick Red Notice.

Ruffalo and Reynolds have never worked together, so it should be fun to see them share the screen before Reynolds' foul-mouthed version of Deadpool inevitably finds a way to cross over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe where Ruffalo has spent so much of his recent career.

Reynolds and Levy's new film Free Guy was originally slated for release in July, before it was pushed to December 11, though earlier this month it was pushed into 2021. This comes to us courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter.
