Rohit was later added to the revised Test squad, subjected to passing a fitness test.

Rohit said that his hamstring is absolutely fine and revealed why he is at NCA.

Rohit (hamstring injury) and Ishant (ribcage injury) are now at the NCA for their rehab and on Sunday, Shastri expressed apprehension on the two players' participation in the upcoming Test series unless they fly out in the next "three to four days". "The way it was responding was changing, so I was feeling quite confident that I could play and that is the communication that I had with MI at that point", Rohit told PTI.

The BCCI didn't specify the exact reason and said Rohit would be constantly monitored by the medical panel. The team has a back-up opener in KL Rahul, but given Rohit's quality, experience and a solid backfoot game, the Aussies might have a considerable upper hand if the batsman doesn't make it. "For me, it was not a concern what x, y or z was talking about like whether he would make it to Australia", he said. "And in that case, Rohit Sharma is a little ahead", Patel said on the Star Sports Cricket Connected show.

Rohit though confirmed that he managed the situation well, but he was still not a 100 per cent fit, meaning he couldn't risk being part of the limited-overs series against the hosts Australia.

"Rohit is injured at the moment".

On his exclusion from white-ball squads, Ganguly said, "Why don't you find out from Rohit himself?"

The senior cricketer has cleared the misconceptions about the injury and the subsequent confusion over the Australia series.

"I don't know what was going on, to be honest, and what all were people talking about".

Rohit, however, returned to play for his franchise after missing four matches and was eventually included in the Test squad.

The selectors, while announcing the squad, didn't specifically mention a replacement for Virat Kohli, who will be back home on paternity leave after the first Test in Adelaide which starts on Dec 17. But it's a four-Test series and both Rohit and Ishant could be available for the Boxing Day Test onwards even if they don't fly out in the next few days. But there are many who beleive that Rohit is a better captain than Kohli when it comes to T20 cricket and Mumbai Indians win in the IPL 2020 has restarted this debate.
