Man United to slash Sergio Romero asking price

Manchester United's Norwegian manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arrives back on the pitch for the second half of the English League Cup semi-final first leg football match between Manchester United and Manchester City at Old Trafford in Manchester, north west England on January 7, 2020.

He has helped Sheffield United earn promotion to the Premier League and impressed in the top flight, making 86 appearances on loan for the Blades. Despite overtaking Sergio Romero in the pecking order, Henderson has found David de Gea a harder challenge to displace. Everton were keen give him the opportunity of regular playing time, according to leading journalist Gianluca Di Marzio but the Red Devils denied him the move.

David De Gea has been favored for the first-team role despite his unsatisfactory performance last season but the door is opened to Dean Henderson to nail down a regular first-choice shirt. Solskjaer has however poured cold water on these reports.

"Dean wants to stay at Manchester United and play for Manchester United", Solskjaer said in his press conference on Monday afternoon. There's great competition between them, I don't buy that argument that it's make or break for him.

The fact that an error-prone Jordan Pickford was picked to face Belgium showcases Henderson needs to do more to cement himself as the starting goalkeeper for England.

As Romero remained a Man United player past the transfer window, this led to plenty of hostility between the two with neither wanting to budge.
