Ken Jennings first "Jeopardy" guest host

Guest hosts will reportedly continue to lead the show until a permanent replacement for Trebek is found.

"Alex believed in the importance of 'Jeopardy!' and always said that he wanted the show to go on after him", said "Jeopardy!" More guests will be announced in the weeks to come but for now, it's Ken first up at the podium.

Jeopardy! announced in a statement on November 23 that Jennings will be the first in a series of guest hosts when the popular game show resumes filming November 30.

Trebek passed away on Sunday, Nov. 8 following a public battle with pancreatic cancer. He also became a consulting producer on the show after winning the "GOAT!" tournament earlier this year. Executive Producer Mike Richards. "That's all I need to say goodbye, because it's going to be the last show". Trebek did not know the last show he recorded - taped October 29, 10 days before his death - would be his last episode.

The show is in its 37th year of syndication, and Trebek was its only host.

Richards said that "Jeopardy!" will air repeat episodes for the holiday weeks beginning December 21 and 28, meaning Trebek's final week of shows will air starting Monday, Jan. 4. Trebek's last episode will now air the week of January 4, with episodes guest hosted by Jennings slated to begin airing on January 11.
