Kelly Loeffler is Leaving the Campaign Trail After Exposure to COVID

Kelly Loeffler said Monday that she will return to public campaigning after she got a second straight negative coronavirus test.

The Georgia Republican is facing a January 5 runoff in one of the state's twin U.S. Senate races. "But those are also the same people who potentially are going to be really upset with Senator Perdue and Senator Loeffler if they acknowledge that President Trump has lost". "He said she was informed later Friday that a PCR test came back positive and she was retested Saturday morning and the results were inconclusive". "She looks forward to getting back out on the campaign trail".

In twin statements, Perdue and Loeffler said they supported Trump's recount demands.

Perdue and Loeffler previously called on Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to resign despite no evidence of major irregularities, an extraordinary attack on a fellow Republican that underscored the intense pressure to fall in line behind Trump's claims.

Graham agreed that he was frugal during a Monday night appearance on Fox News' Hannity, with Gowdy, a former GOP congressman from SC, filling in as host.

After being asked what was at stake depending on which party controls the Senate, Graham said that Democrats would "change the Electoral College" and "go to the popular vote" in presidential elections, although such a move would require an amendment to the Constitution. "We're calling for lawsuits right now". And you know what? They should be counted for me, too.

Neither Perdue nor Loeffler has detailed what they think Raffensperger did wrong, although they want election officials to re-examine the signatures on envelopes of mailed-in absentee ballots, a move Raffensperger says is pointless because the ballots can not be traced back to envelopes once separated. Graham warned that if Democrats took control of the Senate by winning both of two upcoming Georgia runoff elections, it would be a "nightmare for conservatism" because, in part, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) would become chairman of the Senate Budget Committee instead of him. Pence staffers have not indicated whether he has been tested for COVID-19 since campaigning with Loeffler or whether he plans to isolate. The other race will feature Perdue and Democrat Jon Ossoff. "Though Loeffler regularly wears masks, her campaign events have often drawn large crowds where few are wearing masks and socially distancing is impossible".
