U.S. President Donald Trump's eldest son, has tested positive for the coronavirus, local media reported on Friday.

The spokesman says the younger Trump learned his diagnosis earlier this week, has no symptoms and has been quarantining.

"He has been completely asymptomatic so far and is following all medically recommended COVID-19 guidelines", the spokesman added.

Thank you! the president tweeted, following Friday's disclosure that the 42-year-old Trump scion had become one of the almost 12 million Americans infected by the virus. Their son Barron had also tested positive.

President-elect Joe Biden made Trump's response to the virus a top issue in the recently concluded race for the White House, though President Trump has yet to acknowledge the outcome.

A few others closest to the President that have tested positive within the last few months include Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, former Governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie, Donald Trump Jr.'s girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle and more staff of the White House.

The US President spent three days in-patient at the Walter Reed military hospital where he was treated with a cocktail of experimental drugs while Melania Trump stayed at the White House and recovered. Lewandowski said he believed he contracted the virus in Philadelphia while assisting the president's election challenge there.

As it stands, Trump now at home in quarantine and is asymptomatic.
