White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said that Trump in his remarks "discussed with other world leaders the need to work together to restore strong economic growth and jobs as we overcome the COVID-19 pandemic". But Friday evening, the White House published an schedule confirming its participation.

As the event unfolded, Mr. Trump was among the almost 20,000 world leaders who appeared in a video conference, voiced by the White House.

But just 13 minutes after 8 a.m. ET, the start time, Trump was sending out tweets focusing on his efforts to nullify the U.S. presidential election results.

At 10 a.m., the president left the White House on his way to a golf club named after him outside Washington, D.C.

The event featured speeches by leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, focusing on the "integrated response to the coronavirus epidemic and advanced global epidemic preparations".

Trump's influence on the world stage has been minimal since his election defeat.

Major media outlets have projected Biden as the victor of the November 3 presidential election after he won more than the 270 electoral votes needed to secure victory.

There are no high expectations for the G20 this year, despite the outbreak that will call for global efforts to control the virus.

The summit, which was attended by world leaders from around the world, is taking place nearly this year due to the Govt-19 epidemic, which has now killed more than 250,000 Americans - the world's largest total.

Trump has never been biased at summits, even when they are not held virtually. Ahead of last year's G7 in Biarritz, France, he asked his aides whether it was really necessary to attend.

It was Trump's turn to host the G7 this year, but the outbreak was planned to host a leader in the United States. At one point, Trump raised the prospect of convening the G7 after the election, but officials say there are no plans in place now to arrange a meeting before the G7 presidency transfers to the United Kingdom in January.
