The celebrity chef reportedly sent the money to the "MasterChef Junior" contestant - who tragically died on Monday (16.11.20) aged 14 - in August to help cover the medical costs he acquired in his battle against the very rare form of the disease, TMZ reports.

Watkins died on Monday at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, Fox News previously confirmed.

Watkins competed in Season 6 of "MasterChef Junior", ending within the high 18 spots when he was simply 11 years previous.

In September 2017, Micheal killed his wife and then himself, orphaning Watkins, who then moved in with his grandmother and uncle. "Ben suffered more than his share in his fourteen years on this Earth, but we take solace in that his suffering is finally over and in that, in the end, Ben knew he was loved by so many".

After the news of Watkins' diagnosis went public, Ramsey and several judges and contestants from "MasterChef Junior" appeared in a video in August to wish their friend well and to encourage fans to donate to his GoFundMe.

"When Ben's uncommon sickness was shared with the world, he was so heartened by the outpouring of affection he obtained from each nook of the globe - particularly right here in his hometown of Gary, Indiana".

"We were praying for a different outcome", he told the Chicago Tribune.

The tributes to Watkins continued to pour in Friday.

After Watkins's death, Ramsay called him an "incredibly talented home cook and even stronger young man". Your young life had so many hard twists and turns, but you always persevered. "Heartbroken today losing my little mate, sending all my love to Ben Watkins' family with this awful loss Gx".

During that same time, he sent a video message to Watkins, saying, "If you can beat me in the "MasterChef Junior" kitchen, trust me, you can beat this".

The Brit - a chef on the U.S. TV show - shared a picture of Watkins from "MasterChef Junior" on his Instagram page and wrote, "We lost a Master of the @masterchefjunior kitchen today". "God bless, and plenty of love, buddy".
