Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has won the 2020 Golden Boy award after an impressive start at the Bundesliga club, Italian newspaper Tuttosport announced on Saturday.

The prize, presented by Italian newspaper Tuttosport and won by Joao Felix past year, is given to the best player aged 21 or under from a top-tier league in Europe.

The 20-year-old Norwegian forward, who was heavily linked with Manchester United, joined Dortmund in the January transfer window earlier this year.

His scoring rate is astonishing, including six goals in just seven senior caps for Norway.

With 33 goals in 34 matches so far in 2020 with Borussia Dortmund, RB Salzburg and Norway, Haaland is nearly averaging a goal a game and becomes the first Norwegian to win this prestigious award for up-and-coming youngsters.

That includes four goals in three Champions League matches.

"At the moment it's not in Erling's or my head that another club will be vying for him". We signed a long contract with Dortmund, who are a fantastic team for Erling at the moment.

Haaland father: You never know what will happen. But we are talking about speculation here. Neither Erling nor me are thinking about interest from other clubs. We don't want to look any further. I think he would like to win some trophies with Dortmund.

"That's his goal. Erling can still achieve much in Germany and make great progresses". "Leaving Germany is not a priority for us". He just wants to be a better player and doesn't look that far.

"But to draw this comparison now is not so easy because he is already playing in Dortmund".

"It's hard to compare the different clubs", said Alf-Inge Haaland when asked what his son feels is Dortmund's advantage over top clubs in England.
