TMZ reports that a man died after completing one of Wipeout's inflatable courses.

He initially received care from the emergency personnel who were on-site before paramedics were called.

We're told the contestant was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

TMZ sources say the contestant suffered cardiac arrest just before noon on Wednesday. They added that the medics on the scene were already using a defibrillator on the contestant.

The show's production company, Endemol Shine North America, confirmed the contestant's death in a statement on Friday.

Precautions and safeguards were in place on the "Wipeout" set, such as medical exams for all contestants before they're able to participate. The contestant was said to be experiencing chest pain after completing the course. "We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and our thoughts are with them at this time", it read. The show also had two paramedics on-site, a paramedic coordinator, and a safety producer.

The new series, co-hosted by wrestler-turned-actor John Cena, comedian Nicole Byer, and model Camille Kostek, is a reboot of the original Wipeout, which previously aired from 2008 to 2014.

TBS released a statement that said: 'We are devastated to have learned of his passing and our deepest sympathy goes out to the family'.
