Broadway is back! Well, sort of. Similarly to Pasadena's New Year's Day Rose Parade, the 2020 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has been converted into a telecast that Americans will be able to watch from their homes.

"While it will certainly look different in execution, this year's Macy's Parade celebration will once again serve its historical goal - to bring joy into the hearts of millions across the nation".

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will air on NBC from 9 noon in all USA time zones.

As part of Macy's new plan, the number of participants will be reduced by approximately 75%. Participants are all NY tri-state citizens that are at least eighteen. The preceding balloon inflation ceremony, which usually takes place the Wednesday before Thanksgiving outside Manhattan's Museum of Natural History, has also been canceled to avoid drawing crowds.

The celebration will shift to a television-only special presentation, which will still display Macy's Parade's signature mix of giant character helium balloons, fantastic floats, street performers, clowns and the one-and-only Santa Claus. Those participating in the parade will receive face masks with vibrant smiles on them, in colors ranging from red to blue to green to pink to yellow.

Groups - such as the Broadway ensembles - will also adhere to social-distancing protocols while performing.

The parade will feature a plethora of pre-record live performances, including Dolly Parton, Jordan Sparks, Keke Palmer, the cast of Hamilton, the New York City Ballet, Patti Labelle, the Rockettes, Pentatonix, Tori Kelly, and more.

Revelers makes their way down Sixth Avenue in front of Radio City Music Hall during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

"New York City is always proud to join Macy's to ring in the holiday season with New Yorkers and viewers around the world", said New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio in a press release.

You can check out the height and width for each of these balloons and floats, along with the other balloons in the parade on Macy's website.
