This news comes in light of Chadwick Boseman's heartbreaking demise in August.

The unfortunate passing of Chadwick Boseman has raised a lot of questions in regards to what Black Panther's role might be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward. As Black Panther 2 gears up for production, Narcos: Mexico star Tenoch Huerta is also in talks to play the villain in the sequel.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, citing multiple sources, "Black Panther 2" will shoot in Atlanta for up to six months with Ryan Coogler back as director.

Rumors do offer that Black Panther 2 will involve Namor and the Atlanteans, but that is all speculation as of now.

The filming of Black Panther 2 is one of many projects that has been in the works for Marvel.

The Marvel superhero film was originally slated to begin shooting in March 2021 but the tragic death of the franchise's lead actor, Chadwick Boseman, delayed plans as the cast and crew grappled with grief.

As of now, it's unclear if Marvel will recast the role of Black Panther or go with Letitia Wright's Shuri as the new Black Panther, or use an entirely new actor or character, but THR's report says some are saying Wright's character may take on a more prominent role.
