West Indies cricketer Marlon Samuels has been criticised for aiming an expletive-laden tirade at old rival Ben Stokes after a seemingly innocuous comment from the England all-rounder. It all started when Ben Stokes posted on his Instagram stories about the travails of the quarantine that he had to undergo in Auckland and Dubai when he came from New Zealand to the UAE for the IPL.

He explained, "There's no choice, it's pot luck whether you get a good hotel or not".

He then said how hard it was to stay solitary like that.

"I text my brother saying the same thing, and my brother asked, "You wouldn't even do that to Marlon Samuels?' I said, 'No, it's that bad", - that's how tough it was".

While the podcast as well as subsequent reporting brought the comments in a jest form, the West Indian cricketer smelled insult in it. Samuels took to his Instagram story to retort and wrote derogatory terms as a means of addressing Stokes.

This social media post was then shared by Vaughan on his Twitter handle.

The feud between Ben Stokes and Marlon Samuels dates back to 2014, when the two engaged in a war of words during a Test match between their respective teams.

In a recent Instagram post, Samuels claimed Stokes had sledged him throughout the match.

Some of the offensive posts were later deleted by Samuels.

Early on Wednesday, Samuels added more anti-Stokes posts to his Instagram account. He posted a news article of the England star being involved in a fight during a night out in Bristol in 2017 - which saw him charged but found not guilty of affray.

The rise and fall and rise again of England superstar Ben Stokes.

"Lies lies he's such a nice guy plus he only tells me lovely stuff on the cricket field things I would never talk about because I am a boss and he's just sweet guy lol".

Stokes wasn't the only cricketer to feel Samuels' wrath on Tuesday, with Shane Warne also receiving a mention.

"ICC cricketing world ben b*tch stokes Shane b*tch warn and a few b*tch west Indians cricketers who sell out sextillion7thpower nothing to f*ck with my army bigger and we richer (sic)", he wrote in the post, captioning it 'yes I am the bad guy so what!'. The pair clashed during a 2013 Big Bash League match - in which Warne yelled, "F-- you, Marlon" during an on-field confrontation - and verbal barbs were regularly traded afterwards.

If Marlon Samuels wasn't already one of the most hated men in world cricket, he probably is now.

Meanwhile, Stokes is now competing in the Indian Premier League alongside Australia's Steve Smith in the Rajasthan Royals.

The West Indian's comments, particularly those about Stokes' wife, have been widely condemned in the cricket community.
