BC health officials report 217 new coronavirus cases

The new numbers cover a three-day reporting period since Friday, with 317 cases recorded between Friday and Saturday, 293 cases between Saturday and Sunday, and 207 cases between Sunday and Monday.

Individual long-term care facility outbreak updates are provided on the Illinois Department of Public Health website. The WHD reports Johnson County has 58 cases recovered and has experienced 2 deaths resulting from the coronavirus. No new community outbreaks were announced.

School exposures have also been identified at Kelowna Secondary School and St. Joseph Elementary School in Kelowna.

The region seems to be a hot spot for COVID-19 because it has the highest density of multi-generational people living in close proximity to each other, making it easier for the virus to circulate, Brodkin said. There have been no new COVID-19 related deaths, for a total of 259 deaths in British Columbia.

Henry had warned in earlier briefings about the rise in cases in the region, attributable to "social gatherings, weddings and family celebrations in people's homes".
