Grande Prairie MLA and Municipal Affairs Minister Tracy Allard has tested positive for COVID-19.

As a result of being a close contact to the minister, Premier Jason Kenney has entered self-isolation and is being tested.

"Municipal Affairs Minister Tracy Allard recently had a close contact who tested positive for COVID-19", she said.

"Despite not showing any symptoms, the premier is now being tested out of an abundance of caution".

Allard's other close contacts are being notified and will be asked to isolate and get tested.

Allard was not symptomatic when she came into close contact with Kenney and her colleagues. Early Wednesday afternoon, Kenney participated in question period at the legislature.

Airdrie Mayor Peter Brown, along with Airdrie MLA Angela Pitt, Alberta Transportation Minister Ric McIver and Alberta Premier Jason Kenney, all attended the funding announcement last week, meant to detail a new interchange in the city.

"We are not now aware of any close contacts of Minister Allard's showing symptoms", the spokesperson said.

"Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, has been and will continue to be consulted on the response", she said.
