"New S**T has come to light", Bridges tweeted, referring to the iconic character he played in the 1998 comedy film, The Big Lebowski.

Bridges, who last starred in 2018's "Bad Times at the El Royale" and will next be seen starring in the FX on Hulu series "The Old Man", also added, "I'm profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends". I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma.

Before signing off, Bridges thanked everyone for their love and support and reminded them to vote.

"And, while I have you, please do not forget to go vote", Bridges wrote. Even if The Dude might have said "F- sympathy!" at a time like this, we wish him the speediest recovery possible.

Comedian Kathy Griffin tweeted: "Jeff, sending you the wish, the hope, that you get everything you need and anything you want".

Jeff Bridges was honoured with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes in 2019. The lymphatic system includes the lymph nodes, spleen, thymus gland and bone marrow.

Jeff Bridges informed fans that he is starting treatment for Lymphoma. Lymphoma treatment usually involves chemotherapy, various medications, radiation therapy and, in rare cases, can require a stem cell transplant.

Bridges, a famously laid-back screen veteran who made his film debut in the early 1970s, has been nominated for seven Academy Awards, including a nod for his role in the melancholic coming-of-age drama "The Last Picture Show".

He finally won an Oscar in 2010 for his performance as a grizzled country crooner battling alcoholism in "Crazy Heart".
