Adele is set to host next week's episode of Saturday Night Live, on October 24, the Grammy Award-winning singer announced Sunday.

Adele wrote of her hosting gig on Instagram, "Bloooooody hellllll I'm so excited about this!" I am beside myself that H.E.R will be the musical guest! "She's said in the past that creating new music is nearly like therapy". And also absolutely terrified! My first ever hosting gig and for SNL of all things!

Billboard writes that the news of her rare public appearance has sparked rumours of a new album.

This SNL appearance will be Adele's first major outing in four years following her 2016 tour.

Can an SNL slot help a Brit star to break America?

Adele poses in the press room with her trophies, including the top two Grammys of Album and Record of the Year for her blockbuster hit "Hello" and the album "25", during the 59th Annual Grammy music Awards on February 12, 2017, in Los Angeles, California.

Taking to Instagram she shared a picture of three post-it notes saying "Oct 2", "Adele" and "H.E.R".

The singer continued, "Itll be nearly 12 years to the day that I first appeared on the show, during an election...which went on to break my career in America, so it feels full circle and I just couldn't possibly say no!"

For her fans, it may be some time before they get a new Adele album as she has "no idea" when her new music will be released. She is so busy, but her life is better-rounded than it was before. Chris Rock hosted the Season 46 premiere, with comedian Bill Burr, and Issa Rae fronting subsequent shows.

Her appearance on October 24 will mark her first time ever hosting the show.

Down the years the likes of Sir Ian McKellen, Ringo Starr, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Daniel Radcliffe have all hosted the show. SNL hosts usually also participate in several live comedy sketches throughout the episode.

So no pressure Adele.
